Last week, I was blessed to be able to go with our students to Super Summer. Super Summer is a great opportunity for students to learn deeper things about Jesus and His Kingdom. They get to spend a week on a college campus, interact with other students their age, and have a lot of fun!
The theme for camp this year was Gospel. Each day, the students were given the chance to interact with each new idea being presented to them.
The first topic was the Kingdom. What does it mean for Jesus to be King over our lives? In the context of the Gospel, understanding Jesus as King is inherent. A gospel without God’s Kingdom is not the Gospel that Jesus proclaimed.
The next topic was Jesus as the Christ. The position of Christ is a heavy one. He claimed to be the rightful heir to David’s throne. He fulfills the promises made of the suffering servant in Isaiah 53. We must surrender to what His gospel tells us.
The third topic was Jesus’ death and resurrection. Everything Jesus has said and done hinges upon His work on the cross. His resurrection serves as evidence, proving all the claims He previously made.
If all of this is true, then we must understand the call to action that is present. We must be willing to follow that call, telling others the Gospel, and making disciples.
I had so much fun hanging out with this youth group. It was great to be able hear from them at the end of each day. We each shared what we learned and got to know each other during this time. Be praying for them, that they can maintain what they learned and seek to continue in their growth!
