Hosea 13:3 ESV
“Therefore they shall be like the morning mist or like the dew that goes early
away, like the chaff that swirls from the threshing floor or like smoke from a
window.”
Wow! Where has the time gone? You all have heard that time flies as you get
older, and the single thing that weighs on my mind is this–we don’t get another
chance to live this out, so I need to make this count!!
So what now? For some reason or another I have been thinking a lot about this
lately. How can I make sure that I’m making the best choice for my future and
the future of my family? Looking backwards at age 30, there are some things
that I would most definitely have done differently. Yet God has been gracious to
me and used my unguided choices and direction to bring me to where I am
today.
Moving forward, one of my greatest fears is that I will repeat past mistakes and
look back as an older man and wish it were different. All the best intentions in
the world if not guided down a specific path won’t end up where I want to be.
Direction–not intention, determines our destination.
With that said, the path that we choose is so very important to determine where
we want to end up. Your path that you choose for your life and your direction is
so important because without major course adjustments, the end to the path
that you’re on can only be what is at the end of the path. I think that we
understand that but refuse to honestly look down that path and realize that’s
where we are headed. So we trick ourselves to believe that it will be different for
us; that somehow it didn’t work for everyone else on this path. Not us though.
We will be the one that changes the end.
So if we want our path to end where God desires us, to have the most impact
for the sake of the Gospel, then we have to be all so careful to make sure we
pick a path for our lives that ends where He wants us to be. If the end goal is
maturity in our relationship with Christ, then the path that we choose better have
steps to see that happen. We won’t stumble into godliness, it’s a path that we
choose which directs to the end desire that we are seeking.
So pray with me that God will allow us to choose a path that leads to where He
wants us to be and impacts others for the Gospel. In the grand scheme of life
that is all that matters. Everything else is really trivial and meaningless.
Just some thoughts to think about…
Chris
